The Work Could Work (Lungs)

Posted: August 7, 2011 by Hannah in Family

i can accept
my lungs moving
for me
or in spite of me
in and out
a mind of it’s own
a mind that is controlled
and stable
and remote
and gratitude
comes
because i cannot destroy it
nor can i improve it
magic or science
dialogue or silence
it does what it should
keeping time
and letting go
doing it on it’s own

I understood this! Whoo Hoo. I am so proud of myself. I enjoyed it, too. Win Win. Nice job, Hannah. I was thinking. I guess this poem could be about the heart, too. It is very similar to the lungs in the words that you say here. And I suppose you could improve your lungs or heart by the things you eat or refraining from smoking or something. Just thinking, that’s all.
